constructive crit

Okay so ive been looking back at the project and i wanted to say what i liked about it and what i wanted to improve in my own time for personal use.

I like the fact that you can link audio keyframes to many different values which allows me to make things sync or out sync when ever i want. MAJOUR DOWNFALL trying to listen to the audio within after effects doesnt work... so i had to render out multiple things to see if they link...

I like the cc lens that i put on the duplicated footage on the desaturated version of the film... and link that one to opacity..

I wanted it to seem that it was being viewed by a guy on drugs so what you see is the film you see... I also wanted to track the heads and track 2d speakers to there heads... and when the audio links to the scale of them.. but the track wasnt able to work in after effects and at the time i didnt know about boujou or match move or even mocha...

What i wanted to do was record wheels moving like so im paranoid and change the track at some points of my eyes following the wheel or someone watching me (but id of needed another camera man) and like have it so theres me with my headset in paranoid as fuck moving all slow but what i see is everyone so fast.

UPDATES

been keeping my head out of the blog for a week or so, so i can focus on the after effect project files... so ive been learning how to amplify the music via bass & treble and render out the control points from that and link the colour control to the slider from the bass audio keys... and work things that way...

i also recently purchased a 'Red Giant - MOJO' application that helps with colour correcting so i also linked some to the slider to test about..

ive also used 'Bulge' on one of the layers i used to add that feel of looking out...

ive also added vignettes on some of the layers to add more focus on the whole inside head feel...

ive also used a paper texture over the top and vignette'ded that layer... and made it stylised and thresholded the hell out of it... so it adds a nice dark grey slash light grey colour burn feel...

I HAD TO EDIT the music to make it louder to then render it out to get a stronger feel.... etc...

I HATE AFTER EFFECTS.. but i love this music video style considering i hate the music...

OUT

Thursday, 3 March 2011

finally it has come to me...

finally the idea of my music video has come to me... its gonna be abit over a minute cos i need some dramatic build up.

IDEA basically is.... a guy coming into his own once he puts in his headphones... Uni student pans over shoulder at ipod. uni student puts in ipod earphones... then the camera pans to where the guys head would be... from this... the "journey begins" from university to my halls... But obviously journey speeds up....

might overlay some audio timeline into the video and then have him blinking... but that might be abit too much... will decide on shoot. gonna shoot it tomorrow no matter what the weather.

Meh

still not sure on my idea... ive shortened the clip down so im doing from 10seconds to 1.10 so in all its a min long...

ive added fade out and dabbled with the volume through out the clip as some parts are just horrible to listen too so ive faded in and out... i hope this is okay.

ive come up with an idea on like when theres a beat somebody will nod there head and repeat until next beat etc... very brief at the moment trying to find a tutorial that will explain... but you no trying hard

Briefing...

so today Melyvn will actually give us the briefing unlike last week when we got snippets... we will find out our time constrictions and etc etc and give us a few little techniques on how to go about it... ive already been dabeling around with green screen footage n rotoscoping... or even greenscreening it out and then alpha stenciling it to a corrosponding solid layer... to give it that animated mask look i was going for like from.

http://www.artofthetitle.com/2011/02/07/any-human-heart/

tried to create that almost cardboard feel to it but with the footage i had it was either to low res to rotoscope or to low res to even greenscreen effectivly but i guess thats what you get for grabbing footage of youtube...

Ideas spread to mind about recording my dancers in HD on GREENSCREEN and key them out then fether the mask on a hard edge to create that box feel... maybe even mask over that on somethings to create more of a texture i wanted.

"TORT" Track...

This is the track i've chosen to take on for my kind of feel to it....

INITIAL RESPONSE was its crap

Dug a little deeper... to find that actually its kind of okay... it evokes emotion, when i listen to the track i bob my head like anybody else but then you get quite electrified by the music and think like yeh im in the mood to do things now... Personally for me im from a martial arts background so it makes me feel like i could listen to it at the gym and get motivated... or if im teaching and they need to up there game fighting.. then id play this kind of upbeat track to build the moment..

I would love to feel what any form of dancer has on this music..

ITS NOT MY TYPICAL CHOICE OF MUSIC... but i guess it will do!
